Position Overview

Adams & Martin Group has partnered with a leading organization in Florida to find a dedicated and mission-driven Tenants' Rights Attorney. This position is perfect for a legal professional who excels in a collaborative, client-focused environment. The role involves providing direct legal representation and engaging in systemic litigation and projects across various practice areas. The attorney will handle cases in state and federal courts, including litigation, administrative matters, and transactional work. This position is a key part of the Tenants' Rights unit, helping tenants facing eviction, illegal lockout, or challenging housing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client interviews, assess legal issues, and recommend case acceptance.
  • Investigate legal problems, research laws, and analyze facts.
  • Counsel clients, help define goals, and guide them through the legal process.
  • Negotiate with opposing parties and manage cases efficiently.
  • Engage in community education, outreach, and professional development presentations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, and community organizations to address client needs.
  • Adhere to firms' policies and Florida Bar rules.
  • Perform related duties to support overall organizational success.
  • Requires reliable transportation and occasional travel to evening or weekend events.
  • Involves extended periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Occasionally requires lifting and moving items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.
  • Member of The Florida Bar, The Federal Bar, or admission within the time specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a related field is required.
  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of firm.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in word processing, email, and internet use.
  • Able to follow directions, work independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Collaborative team player with integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Skilled at working with diverse staff and clients.
  • Passionate about racial and economic justice and serving low-income communities.

Required Work Hours

Monday to Friday, full-time

Additional Details

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
